Method This test has the patient standing with the arms hanging loosely at the side. The examiner deeply palpates the patient's shoulder eliciting a localized tender area. The examiner, while leaving the finger on the painful spot, passively abducts the patient's arm. This sign is present when the painful spot disappears on abduction, indicating subacromial bursitis.
